Off-grid Applications :

About one-third of Indonesia's population has no access to electricity. The majority lives in remote areas where renewable energy is often the most least-cost option for electrification. A large number of government-funded infrastructure programs have already been implemented in the last recent years. But often they turned not to be sustainable.
The Indonesian government has set a target until 2014 to increase the electrification rate from 65% to 80%. NREEC plays a key role to this electrification target. GIZ currently screens off-grid renewable energy applications that fulfill the least-cost approach of the LCORE project. Project screening is done in collaboration with national and local governments who are involved in the government-funded implementation programs, as well as technology suppliers and service providers.
